Senior Developer (C# 2.0 / SQL Server 2005) |
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for developing bespoke database applications for event registration and mailing house applications. ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS: This position reports to the IT Director. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Continue development on an existing C#/SQL project, liaising with a project manager. This is a complex data management tool that will provide functionality across the company. • Have involvement in the design and specification processes of some parts of this application • Ensure that all code is clearly written and commented, and provide technical documentation as appropriate • Oversee and integrate the work of a junior developer, who will assist where appropriate • Roll out the new system across the company and beyond, assisting users (technical and non), responding to bug queries or feature requests as appropriate • On completion of the initial project, there are others lined up. You may have more involvement in the early planning stages of these, if desired. • General assistance to technical department to help people get up to speed with writing SQL queries (currently limited knowledge) QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Education: Degree level or equivalent, supplemented with one or more courses in relevant technology. Experience: Minimum 3-5 years experience with C# and SQL Server, of which at least 1 year must be with versions 2.0 (.NET Framework) and 2005 (SQL Server). WinForms experience is essential. Skills: • Excellent knowledge of C#.Net and SQL Server • WinForms knowledge and practical experience is essential. ASP.NET (WebForms) is desirable. • XML knowledge (particularly in relation to SQL Server) is desirable • Understanding of what makes a good, consistent, standard user interface • Ability to write effiecient, abstract stored procedures • Some experience with Crystal Reports, Visual FoxPro would be a bonus – though these are not essential • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously. • Excellent communication skills, and ability to work in conjunction with others, including providing support • Ability to manage your time and workload, and work effectively with little supervision • Ability to oversee the work of others The successful candidate will also be given the opportunity to gain experience in multiple technologies, and integrating with various pieces of hardware. Your responsibility will increase over time, and you will have a lot of influence over the entire development cycle.
